Featured Project: Estate Gates

Working in conjunction with the Niagara Escarpment Commission and the Halton Conservation Authority, Gelderman Landscape Services designed and managed a project to install arched stone gates at an estate and horse farm in Burlington.

The fence and gates were designed to include the security the client requested while reflecting features of the house. The large gate is keeping in proportion with the existing home and front landscape. To compliment the house, the fences were built using the same stone as was used on the house. Custom cut indigenous marble arches were added to the top of the gates.

To reference the horse farm and stables, concrete horse heads that the client already owned were installed on two of the gate pillars.

Security features include magnetic closure on the side man gate that can only be opened by remote control or by entering a code on the main gate pad; and a camera at the front of the gate which can be viewed from the house.

To finish the project, a large Blue Spruce was installed to soften the look, and low Boxwood hedge installed to reflect the classic look of the home.

The custom made steel gates and gate operating systems were installed by a Hamilton partner. Gate foundations were provided by a Flamborough partner. Stone work was done by a local mason. All electrical work was done by a partner in Waterdown.
