Despite the winter weather conditions, the Design Team at Gelderman Landscape Services is busy inside working on plans for the 2017 construction season.
“Contrary to what many think, winter is a great time to contract a landscape company to begin the process of design and installation, says Chris Mace, VP of Landscape and Design.
Mace says that good design is the basis for any successful landscape project, and that takes time. “It is a creative process that should not be rushed.”
The process of landscape design begins with site analysis to verify that existing site conditions are accurately depicted on the property plans provided by the client.
“It is important to take the time to allow the design team to understand the client’s vision and wishes for the project,” says Mace. Preliminary tasks, such as assessing and documenting site conditions, take place before beginning the design. “A good design requires the designer to blend the preliminary tasks with an understanding of the client’s aesthetic and budgetary needs. To do this well, you need time.”
During the winter months, the Gelderman design team members also attend seminars to further their education and to keep abreast of latest trends, new products, accessories, outdoor furniture, etc. There is also in-house professional development and coaching throughout the season.
Mace says that right now clients are booking for the 2017 season schedule. “Spring 2017 is already half booked,” he says.
It is recommended that clients look at getting started during the winter to ensure their landscape design is on Gelderman’s schedule in order to enjoy your new landscape during the warm days of summer.
